Sonoma Valley Styled Shoot

This editorial shoot had the best of both worlds: elegant design and breathtaking scenery. Lately I’ve been so in love with weddings that take typical indoor themes, layouts, and décor and move it all outdoors. It’s just such a striking combination. For this styled shoot, I collaborated with Tan Weddings and Events at Gundlach Bundschu Winery in Sonoma, CA who were both so wonderful to work with! The planner and venue staff all know their stuff and pulled off this incredible design so well. Thankfully, it was a beautiful spring day, and the weather was exceptional. Plus, it wasn’t too windy out on the hilltop overlooking the vineyard, so setup was easy.

Gundlach Bunschu is the oldest family-owned winery in California – which is an impressive claim being in the middle of wine country! They began in the late 1800s, so they’ve had plenty of time to perfect their craft not just in winemaking but also in event hosting. The sprawling farm looks out on acres of established, flourishing grape vines with stunning views of the Sonoma hills in the backdrop. It’s no wonder this place is a much sought-after wedding venue.

For our shoot, we went with two different but equally gorgeous bridal looks. We began with the bride in a traditional white wedding dress and switched halfway through to a black lace reception dress. Just like the sophisticated décor and the outdoor atmosphere, I loved the juxtaposition of the attire!

For table settings, every looked classic and chic with a bright summery feel. The light pink and cream-colored blooms looked so lovely paired with the soft blue and white linens and place settings. I also thought the fruity drinks and honey party favors added a nice touch for the springtime theme – great inspiration for those of you planning warm-month weddings!
