I had so much fun with this Sacramento family session. The Dunbaugh family recently moved from Rocklin to New Castle, right outside of Sacramento. They wanted a house with land so they could enjoy gardening and raise chickens. Naturally, they wanted to do an at-home family session. As you can tell from the photos, the land is absolutely gorgeous.
When you have land like this, it really becomes the perfect setting for your family session! There were multiple spots to choose from that worked as a backdrop. Not to mention, they had this super fun swing that was perfect for photos!
There are two daughters in the family: Lucille, who is now nine, and Jada, who is twelve. The family session started off with Lucille since it was her ninth birthday, and of course, we had to do some shots with her balloons. Then, we got some shots with Jada and then the entire family. Plus, obviously, we had to get some pictures with the chickens!
This family is so sweet and photogenic that I couldn’t help taking so many photos! They were so much fun, and I loved capturing them all together. They were laughing the entire time and playing silly games, just really enjoying each other’s company. You can tell how close they are from the photos!
A few times, I caught the sister’s bickering, which reminded me of my sister and me growing up. I kept telling them that I had an older sister, and we are best friends. I promised them that they would appreciate each other once they got older. Lucille and Jada are enjoying spending time with their family now, but they miss time with their friends.
It really helped put things in perspective for me. There’s so much uncertainty right now, but this family session helped remind me of my own family. Even though the world is so crazy right now, it seems to be bringing families closer together. I’m so grateful I got to work on this Sacramento family session!
If you’re looking for your own family session, I would love it if you reached out to me! This is such a perfect time to capture your family – so you can look back for years to come!
