A year ago, I was searching on the Internet for anything that had to do with Wedding Photography when I came across Melissa Jill. She is an amazingly talented wedding photographer based in Phoenix, AZ. I fell in love with her work and begin to follow her blog regularly. I think the first blog I had ever read of hers was on reception lighting and it was the first of many aha! moments that I would have. I just knew I had to attend her workshop (aka MJ2day.)

We started at 9am sharp and went the entire day until about 9pm! It seems like such a long day but it went by super fast! Melissa generously shared her journey as a photographer and how she fell in love with the business. She shared what didn’t work, what did work, and how she successfully “plugged” those leaks in her business to help her reach goals. She gave the inside secrets on how she builds  relationships with her clients and how she runs her day to day business.  Meeting her was such an inspiration and to top it all off she gave away amazing prizes. It was the single best thing I could have done for my business! I am excited for the New Year and what I will gain from implementing all that I have learned.

We walked around MJ’s neighborhood discussing lighting and interacting with clients. It was a such a treat to watch MJ in action.

I met some talented photographers from all over. There was even someone that came all the way from Germany! It was so much fun hanging out with 12 other amazingly talented women that share the same passion. I am excited to move my business forward in 2014!!
