Highlight of last week: My 40th Birthday weekend Bash!

Turning 40 isn’t so bad after all. I could do without all my old cheerleading injuries coming back to haunt me but life is good and I had a fabulous week celebrating this milestone. On my actual birthday which was Thursday, I enjoyed watching my nephews track meet and then enjoyed my mom’s yummy birthday dinner in Lotus. My husband got me a kitchenaide mixer which I have been wanting for quite awhile. I really love to bake and have been wanting to try to make The pioneer Women, Lee Drummond’s, Strawberry shortcake cake. It turned out okay. It came out really super sweet so if I make it again I might hold off on some of the sugar. I think the next thing that I will try to make with my kitchenaide is a more healthier option since I am on this quest to get healthy. Anyone know of any good gluten, dairy and sugar free recipes?

The birthday celebration continued through the weekend. Thanks to my sister Joy for organizing a weekend to remember! On Saturday night everyone dressed up in style. “Must wear some sparkle!” the invitation read 🙂 We drank wine, ate some appetizer, laughed and laughed some more, and then headed out for a night of dancing. The next day we enjoyed relaxing massages and pedicures at Timeout Spa in Apple Hill, CA. As you can see I didn’t take any pictures of the spa as I purposely put my phone away so I could really take advantage of the relaxing environment. If you have never been you must go. It has been around for 20 years and even though the decor screams 1980 it was a great experience, very relaxing. Thank you to everyone who celebrated with me! I love you guys so much!!

Last week I also attended The Need Speedlight? Workshop with Bob Davis and Stephen Eastwood. It was an all day class from 9-9:30. Yes, that’s right a little over 12 hours of lots and lots information on how to use speedlights. I really enjoyed it and learned a great deal! I will be blogging about my experience soon so stay tuned.

Highlight of this week: Kara and Bryan’s Wedding.

I just started a new Circuit training class today to get myself in shape and will continue to do so on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays for the next 4 weeks. Boy oh boy! I can tell I am gonna be really sore the next couple of days! Must drink lots of water. Hopefully, this will help me get my 40 year old booty in shape 🙂 I also will be taking up tennis. I asked myself… what can I do this summer that would be fun while getting into shape? I figured since I belong to the Rancho Murieta Country Club, why not learn tennis? We joined for my husbands obsession with golf but it also has a great tennis program as well.

This weekend is Kara and Bryan’s wedding and I am super excited! If you missed their engagement blog click here to find out more about this cute couple. They will be getting married in a cool rustic barn in half moon bay. Can’t wait!

Happy Monday!! Have an awesome week!!
