As a photographer, there is nothing better than a gorgeous sunset for golden hour portraits! Shelby and Ryan had a beautiful engagement session earlier this Spring, with some beautiful golden light. We started in Old Town Auburn, one of my favorite towns. It has lots of charm, old brick buildings, and so many beautiful trees in bloom! This town is outside of Sacramento and is the perfect spot for engagement sessions.
For my engagement sessions, I like to give my couples time to change outfits. This way they can do one in more casual outfits, and another in more dressy! It’s a great way to get a variety of shots, so you can send them to your family. Shelby and Ryan first started in jeans and button-down shirts, which were so comfy! They were perfectly coordinated. When we headed to Shelby’s aunt’s home, she switched to a black and floral dress. It matched the setting perfectly! Her dress had little blooms that complimented the orchard. She even kicked off her heels as they walked through the orchard – the grass was so soft!
Ryan had the cutest proposal story! He proposed on a trip they took to Lake Tahoe, right on the Garwoods Beach in Carnelian Bay. Their closest friends and family were there to celebrate! She told me it was such a surprise! For their wedding, the couple wants it to be focused on a fun party, so all of their family and friends can celebrate. Good music, great food and lots of laughing and dancing is the goal! And that to me, is the perfect night.
After we walked around Old Town Auburn, we went to Shelby’s aunt’s home. Her aunt has a property that sits in the middle of a mandarin orchard! It overlooks the hillside and had the most incredible views. And that sunset! It was so perfect.
